Exposition collective qui prend pour point de départ la vidéo de l’artiste canadien Rodney Graham, Vexation Island, où un pirate échoué sur une plage est pris au piège d’un cycle d’actions burlesques. Le titre reprend les paroles du perroquet, "Réveillez-vous, s’il vous plaît…". Elles semblent sortir de l’image pour s’adresser directement au spectateur. Les artistes réunis dans l’exposition interrogent la capacité de l’art à réveiller la conscience du spectateur. Les œuvres présentées confrontent l’expérience individuelle du spectateur et son inscription dans une histoire collective, elles deviennent des outils critiques qui convoquent dans un même mouvement la mémoire, l’histoire et l’oubli.

This group exhibition takes as its starting point Vexation Island, the video by Canadian artist Rodney Graham, in which a pirate washed up on a beach finds himself trapped in a zany cycle of events. The title borrows the words of a parrot, "Wake up, please !", which seem to leap out of the video image to challenge the viewer. The participants in this exhibition speculate about art’s capacity to whet our consciousness : works taking up the issue of individual experience and its role in a collective narrative become critical tools that bring about a convergence of memory, history and forgetting.
